Und hier noch einige der Q&A's die während der Präsentation gestellt und beantwortet wurden:Q: Would this be considered a possible upgrade from the ASA for VPN head end aggregation?
A: ASR 1000 is a new option for high-performance multigigabit IPsec VPN aggregation within the IOS headend router. ASA is a great solution for customers preferring a standalone solution
Q: is this router appropriate for an environment with multiple full BGP feeds?
A: Yes. The ASR1000 can support full BGP tables. Take a look at the Isocore test report at
www.cisco.com/go/asr.
Q: what services are aggregated into the ASR?
A: IPSec, Firewall, software redundancy... plus other features will be available in the future
Q: How is IOS-XE different from IOS?
A: IOS XE is virtualized as an application, and capable of supporting software redundancy even without redundant hardware. This allows for ISSU with a single RP. In terms of CLI it's the same as IOS.
Q: Has this device being tested by a third party?
A: Yes. This was tested by Isocore and the test results were published. Go to
www.cisco.com/go/asr to download the test report. It's under "Featured Content"
Q: What kind of bandwidth is connected to the router?
To start, the ASR will be able to forward 10Gbps aggregate of traffic.
Q: so this is a very high end product? and not for the average network?
A: In price and performance, it is between the Cisco 7200 and 7600 Series routers. So the ASR 1000 will have many applications in Enterprise and Service Provider environments.
Q: I have several enterprise customers with 7200VXRs... is the ASR1000 the replacement/migration recommendation?
A: No, the ASR 1000 is not recommended as a replacement for the 7200VXR.
Q: Does it run IOS or another new O/S?
A: It will run IOS/XE, a virtualized implementation of IOS code that is meant to address the routing requirements at the edge for a compact form factor platform.
Q: Is ASR 1000 expandable as user needs grow? - Rake Narang, editor for Network Products Guide.
A: Yes, the ASR 1000 has modular route processor and forwarding processor modules that the customer can upgrade as their bandwidth needs grow. Additionally, services such as security and software high availability are integrated and can be enabled with a feature license anytime after the customer has purchased the unit.
Q: Will the ASR1000 offer voice services and/or support SRST, or will customers be directed to the ISRs for any voice requirements?
A: The ASR 1000 series supports an integrated Session Border Controller at introduction, but not Cisco Call Manager, or Call Manager Express and Unity which are supported in the ISR series routers.
Q: Do the upgrades in the background you have discussed today slow the performance of the ASR 1000 in any way? Rake, editor with Network Products Guide
A: No. Background upgrades do not have any performance impacts and packet loss/interruption is either zero or < 50ms.
Q: You say it is orderable today, but when will it ship?
A: Estimated ship will be in the end of April timeframe.
Q: How much does the ASR 1000 cost in $?
A: The ASR configurations start at $35,000.
Q: Does the ASR1000 series have dual power supplies?
A: Yes, all ASR 1000 routers ship with dual power supplies, either DC or AC.
